Speed
Speeds you can expect with HughesNet
Satellite Internet
When you connect to the Internet using HughesNet, the
upload and download speeds you experience will vary based on a variety of
factors including the configuration of your computer, the number of
concurrent users, network or Internet congestion, the speed of the
Websites you are accessing, and other factors. Stated speeds and
uninterrupted use of service are not guaranteed. During peak hours, actual
upload and download speed will likely be lower than speeds indicated.
With the Basic service plan, you may enjoy increased
download speeds of up to 1.0 Mbps, with typical speeds of about 550 Kbps
to 650 Kbps during peak times. Upload speeds, which are capable of
reaching 200 Kbps, are typically 100 Kbps to 120 Kbps
during peak hours.
With the Power 150 plan, you’ll enjoy
high-speed Internet service download speeds of up to 1.5 Mbps, with
typical speeds about 800 Kbps to 1000 Kbps during peak times.
Upload speeds, which are capable of reaching 200 Kbps, are typically
100 Kbps to 120 Kbps during peak hours.
With the Power 200 plan, increase download speed
even more and enjoy speeds of up to 2.0 Mbps, with typical speeds
about 1.2 Mbps to 1.3 Mbps during peak times. Upload speeds,
which are capable of reaching 300 Kbps, are typically 200 Kbps
to 240 Kbps during peak hours.
The Power 200 service plan is only available through the new
HughesNet satellite. Approximately 1% will not be able to receive the
Power 200 plan as a result of trees or other obstacles that block the
signal from the satellite to the home.
In all cases, actual upload speed will likely be lower
than the speed indicated during peak hours. Download speeds may also be
temporarily slowed if patterns of system usage exceed the download
threshold for an extended length of time. See the HughesNet Fair
Access Policy for further information.
